First Tennessee Bank Affinity Strategy Consultant Sr. in Memphis, Tennessee

Description The Affinity Strategy Consultant Sr. will be part of a team that develops First Horizon’s Affinity Strategy for our 360-degree Diversity and Inclusion. Specifically, this position will:

  • Manage marketplace execution that supports and drives consumer, commercial and corporate business strategy and revenue

  • Develop data analytics, insights and action oriented recommendations to measure and report results related to workforce, workplace and marketplace diversity

  • Manage and support the employee resource groups (ERGs) to develop strategies to connect them to the company’s total business strategy

  • Manage the on-going development of diversity information on the internal website

  • Coach mid-management leaders and their teams on how to effectively develop and implement diversity strategies for their departments

  • Project manage key projects for the Affinity Strategy department

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Work with leaders, current and potential customers to execute strategies around diversity and inclusion that drive revenue and business investment

  • Assist relationship managers in identifying diverse customers and assist in acquiring such customers via referrals to relationship management teams when appropriate

  • Obtain a working knowledge of credit, products and sales execution in order assist relationship managers with customer identification and sales opportunities

  • Represent First Horizon’s Affinity Strategy on a variety of committees internally and externally

  • Attend external conferences, community and professional events to network and document best practices, raise awareness of initiatives through speeches, and gain contacts for FTB associates

  • Assist key partners with securing industry awards to maintain our company’s strong reputation for diversity and inclusion. Validate data to ensure its integrity and consistency when reporting internally and externally


  • Provide support to the EVP of Affinity Strategy on presentations, speeches and research; assist with producing and publishing articles internally and externally on First Horizon’s Affinity Strategy; assist with production of the annual diversity and inclusion report

  • Develop, manage and analyze data involving database interaction, data collection and validation. Track and analyze numerous metrics and decision/action oriented insights for each of the key focus areas for Affinity Strategy (workforce, workplace and marketplace) including historical trends and breakdown by sub-categories and segments. Work with key internal and external partners to create and track specific measures of success for talent, customer and vendor diversity

  • Assess the effectiveness and impact of Affinity Strategy programs and initiatives, developing new metrics where meaningful; Develop additional reports as needed. Continuously evolve data and insights to support strategy development


  • Partner with HR to develop creative and appropriate training to support diversity and inclusion initiatives to maximize the benefits of all Affinity strategies

  • Coach mid-management leaders and their teams on how to effectively develop and implement diversity strategies for their departments. Ensure these leaders and their teams have up-to-date information on industry issues, department staff diversity and Affinity Strategy initiatives


  • Support other projects and events coordinated by the Affinity Strategy department and/or other areas of the company related to diversity and inclusion

  • Other duties as required


  • Bachelor’s Degree experience with at least 5 years of professional experience in data analytics combined with an understanding of banking industry customer and marketplace behaviors; Master's Degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on an analytical project team with defined deliverables

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong capability to build and maintain spreadsheets in Excel utilizing pivot tables and advanced formulas

  • Experience or interest in using Tableau (or equivalent) for data analysis and visualization

  • Knowledge of banking industry, specifically consumer and business markets and customers

  • Strong proficiency to accommodate multiple demands; ability to be analytical, creative, perform under time pressure and meet strict deadlines

  • Must present a positive work attitude, professional appearance, flexibility to perform the job, trustworthiness, team player attitude, and dependable attendance habits

  • Experience in successfully communicating detailed analyses to managers, both written and oral; communicate clearly and concisely all key takeaways, methodologies and assumptions

  • Excellent judgment and problem solving skills

  • Ability to professionally manage confidential and sensitive information

  • Self-starter able to work independently utilizing known and new resources to seek answers

  • Excellent organization, prioritization, time management, and project management skills

  • Ability and aptitude to work with and communicate with diverse customers and vendors to help with relationship development and diversity and inclusion initiatives
