Chemours currently has an opening for a Maintenance Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Mechanic at our Memphis facility. The site is located 10 miles north of down town Memphis.
The Memphis Plant E&I Mechanic accomplishes, with a minimum of supervision, a wide variety of maintenance assignments. This is a day shift position during hours that will accommodate full interface time with business unit maintenance and planning and scheduling (currently 7:45am to 4:15 pm). The employee must be able to work overtime, ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs, wear industrial safety equipment; hard hat, gloves (both leather and chemical), hearing protection, FR clothing, steel toed shoes, safety glasses, goggles, respirators, chemical suit, lift 50 lbs., stand on his/her feet for extended periods of time and be physically flexible including bending, rotating, kneeling.
Successful candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of equipment, specifications, procedures, tools, materials, and techniques used in the installation and maintenance of Electrical, Instrument and DCS equipment. This position regularly exercises independent judgment in installing, repairing, calibrating, adjusting, and checking equipment. The candidate must be capable of diagnosing causes and sources of electrical and instrumentation failures and initiating corrective action. This includes working with technical, operating and mechanical personnel, and others to meet the common objective of safely producing quality products at a minimum cost. Work must be performed safely with a high level of skill, proficiency, and thoroughness.
Assignments are varied in scope and require the ability to use many different types of tools and equipment, as well as knowledge of the capabilities of each. This knowledge and its application through use of a variety of abilities constitutes the multi-skilled performance required of all Memphis E&I Mechanics. Candidate maintains his/her knowledge and ability in a variety of areas on a current basis and must successfully complete site E&I training and certification within one year of hire date.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintaining 480 VAC motor starters and motors.
Troubleshooting control circuits (24 VDC, and 120 VAC).
Maintaining troubleshooting and configuring PLC and DCS systems.
Performing instrument calibrations.
Repairing instrumentation, control valves, and maintaining analyzers
Configuring process control software and process graphics
Check out field devices related to the DCS, Safety Manager, PLC, and DeviceNet systems to assure field devices are interfaced, tested and functioning correctly.
Perform tuning of process control loops.
Lead and/or assist in diagnosing and correcting control system malfunctions.
Participate as needed in functional check-outs of new equipment.
Read and understand prints such as: P&ID’s (Process & Instrumentation Drawings), Loop sheets, electrical connection drawings, single line drawings, logic drawings, and ladder logic.
Performs work using the following knowledge, systems, and tools:
Level Measurement Devices
Temperature Measurement Devices
Pressure Measurement Devices
PH/Conductive Meters and Sensors
Service Lighting Systems
Other general E&I maintenance work as needed
Audit work for completeness and quality.
Maintain and enter information in SAP
Manage and complete Maintenance Work Orders
Communicate closely with Production Supervisor, and Maintenance Coordinator
Work closely with Technical Engineers and Area Supervisor on Tasks and Projects
Participate in Mechanical Reliability Team & Improvement Efforts
Communicate status of equipment repairs / equipment issues to team (daily)
Manage completion of Pre-Startup reviews maintenance punch list items
Proficiency in the use of the following computer applications
LOTUS Notes/LOTUS CAR system
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Associates Degree, Journeyman’s License or successfully completed vocational-tech program directly related to Instrumentation/Electrical Maintenance and Installation. Adequate relevant field experience may be considered.
3 to 5 years’ minimum experience in the field of Electrical Maintenance and/or Industrial Instrumentation
