Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments

  • Know machine controls to install plate changeovers and start up machines for production needs when required

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery

  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches

  • Observes and listens to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts

  • Examines form & texture of parts to detect imperfections

  • Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements

  • Lubricates and cleans machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant

  • Document and track changeover times and record

  • Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and 5S standards and observes the operations to insure a safe work environment

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Perform all plate changeovers as scheduled while maintaining efficient changeover times and performing job using proper safety practices

  • Start machines and devices to test their performance as needed

  • Adjust machines to test their performance as needed

  • Troubleshoot mechanical components and replaces or repairs parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches

  • Document and track use of parts to repair machinery and equipment in order to maintain inventory levels

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to use hand and pneumatic tools necessary for changeovers

  • Able to use hand and pneumatic tools necessary for equipment repairs

  • Ability to read and use precision measuring devices including amp meters, electric meters, and hydraulic gauges

  • Limited to average understanding of systems and equipment

  • Needs direction and guidance on average to complex problems

  • Limited understanding of schematics

  • Can work with OEM and troubleshoot problems with detailed understanding of all equipment and terminology

  • Works with assistance on complex or difficult problems

  • Is considered an expert on a limited amount of equipment, novice level on some equipment
