Kforce has a client seeking a Senior Power Electronic Design Engineer in Memphis, TN.Summary:The Senior Power Electronic Design Engineer will design and develop LED lighting drivers. You will participate with a team to develop other new products relating to lighting electronics; such as, Emergency LED Drivers, and functions including controls, interface circuitry, dimming circuits, etc. The candidate will guide and direct design of PCBs, enclosures, packaging, and/or related equipment. You will also guide and direct design of tests plans (R&D tests, NPI, and factory test plans). The Senior Power Electronic Design Engineer will be responsible for application of power electronics, switch-mode power supply circuit design/development for lighting electronics. The Engineer will perform feasibility studies for new technologies and new product ideas, pre-development, and product development from conception to initial production. This person will conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, coordinate, and hold design reviews, providing deliverables such as: complete Bill-of-Materials, block-diagrams, schematics, drawings, PCB design documentation, specifications, test data results, and other necessary documentation and information

  • Work in team environment on NPD projects; May lead/guide and/or coordinate the work of other engineers, PCB & Mechanical designers, or technicians

  • Prepare working prototypes, including samples for the UL CTDP, and production

  • Participate in and support the UL Client Test Data Program, which includes testing, documenting test data, tests records, and tests reports

  • Validating alternate components or processes

  • Ensure product quality & reliability particularly as it applies to Quality Test Plans/Reliability Test Plans, and Failure Mode and Effects analysis

  • BSEE is required

  • MSEE is a plus

  • 5 years of appropriate design/development experience of products

  • Experience in the lighting industry or related fields

  • Strong Switching Power Supply Circuit Design experience

  • Knowledge of UL standards and compliance standards such as FCC EMI

  • Skilled at hands-on bench-top design of electronics

  • Strong Analog design skills

  • Strong Electrical Engineering and technical skills

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work with a team in a matrix organization and interact with and contribute to cross-functional teams, supporting senior personnel

  • Ability to use personal computers, especially using spreadsheets, word processing software, and engineering software of preference

  • Ability to manage functional elements of a project and balance innovation and creativity with mindful regard to a project schedule with strong sense of urgency

  • Knowledge in the discipline of Lighting Electronics; specifically, LED Driver development is a plus but not required

  • Knowledge of embedded microcontroller products is a plus
